Special Representative of the refugee agency of the United Nations Anjelina Jolie Pitt, met with Syrian refugee families in Jordan last week, just days before this year’s UN General Assembly.
During the visit, she urged the world leaders to make the “root of causes for the conflict in Syria, center of discussion” at the UN meeting on 15th of September.
Jolie said that all of the 6,000 residents of the camp have suffered loss and trauma, and still consider themselves to be “one of the more fortunate”. She said that 75,000 Syrians are stuck in no man’s land on the Jordanian border without access to humanitarian aid and did not receive “any basic protection under international humanitarian law.”
The famous humanitarian said that the world knew for months about the situation there, but doesn’t provide solutions.
